We can use to + infinitive to say why we do something. It tells the other person the rationale. We need to have a normal verb as properly.
- I went on vacation (this is what I did) to calm down (that is why I did it).
- She studies exhausting to get good marks.
- He gave up cakes to shed some pounds.
- I am calling you to ask on your help.
- Current simple: I exercise every single day to stay healthy.
- Current continuous: He is saving money to purchase a flat.
- Previous easy: I went to college to get a diploma.
- Past continuous: She was walking to the shops to buy milk when she met John.
- Future easy: He'll come to the occasion later to select up Julia.
- Current good: She's gone to the library to check.
- I went on vacation to calm down.
- I went on vacation as a way to loosen up.
- I went on holiday so as to loosen up.
- I drank coffee in order not to fall asleep.
- He got up very quietly in order not to wake the children.
- I went to the library to check. (I went to the library and that i studied - the topic are both 'I'.)
- I went to the library so that John could examine. (I went to the library, pens.ac.id but John studied. The two topics are totally different - I and John - so we won't use an infinitive of objective.)
- I went dwelling to sleep.
- Go house and sleep!
- You have to go residence and sleep!
